While Monday marked something of a quieter day for record-breaking in comparison to the rest of London 2012, Day 10 nevertheless provided some significant world's bests and firsts.
On the track, Felix Sanchez (Dominican Republic) became the
oldest person to win the 400m hurdles is at age 34 years 342 days
with a time of 47.63 seconds. It was Sanchez' second career win of
the event, after winning in the exact same time at the 2004 Athens
Olympics.
The smallest National Olympic Committee by population to win a
Summer Olympics gold medal is Grenada, (population 109,000)
following Kirani James' victory in the men's 400m in a time of
43.94 seconds.
Elsewhere, the South African team recorded the largest margin of victory in women's field hockey with a 7-0 victory over USA on 6 August 2012.
